Google discovers people matter

"What employees valued most were even-keeled bosses who made time for one-on-one meetings, who helped people puzzle through problems by asking questions, not dictating answers, and who took an interest in employees’ lives and careers."

What is notable about this study are not the results: Anyone who has worked with technical superstars in Silicon Valley could have told you what the results would be. What is remarkable here is that Google has found a way to objectively reach these conclusion, using their own internal data and methods, which give them a much better chance of being listened to inside of one of the more insular company cultures in the Valley.
