Even in a slow economy, with downward pressure on prices and wages, lean hiring plans and aggressive restructuring going on, there is still a need for companies to find and acquire top talent.

But it's tough to differentiate oneself, and get the word out.

So why not have someone else do it for you?

This is what Netflix's recruiting organization has done. By placing this "company positive" message inform of a presentation about the company's culture on a public sharing web site, and then seeding interest in the document, they have effectively "leaked" a very positive, flatting view of their corporate culture to the world at large -- all for free, and all with the good will one associates with a message that is not formal advertising.

Call it "viral recruiting".
